The 'Young, Wild and Free' hitmaker slams the History channel remake of the 1977 series which debuted on the Memorial Day.

Snoop Dogg took to Instagram on Monday afternoon, May 30 to blast "Roots" remake which premiered on History Channel at 9/8c on the same day. The rapper slammed the series remake for debuting on the Memorial Day, telling fans to boycott the show.
"No disrespect, but I can't watch no motherf**king more black movies where n***as get dogged down," Snoop said in a video, "I'm sick of this s**t. How the f**k are they going to put 'Roots' on Memorial Day? They gonna just keep beating that s**t in our heads of how they did us, huh? I don't understand America. They just want to keep showing the abuse that we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago. But, guess what? We taking the same abuse."
"Think about that part. When you all going to make a motherf**king series about the success black folks is having? The only success we have is 'Roots' and '12 Years a Slave' and s**t like that, huh? F**k y'all," he continued, "I ain't watching that s**t, and I advise you motherf**kers as real n***a like myself. F**k them television shows. Let's create our own s**t based on today, how we live, and how we inspire people today. Black is what's real. F**k that old s**t."
"Roots", a remake of the original 1977 series based on Alex Haley's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "Roots: The Saga of an American Family", stars Malachi Kirby, Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman and T.I.. The remake is airing from May 30 to June 2 in four installments of approximately two hours each.
