Red Hot Chili Peppers Apologizes for Canceling Concert Following Anthony Kiedis' Hospitalization

The RHCP lead singer was taken to hospital after suffering 'extreme stomach pain' just before the band was about to take the stage at the annual Weenie Roast concert.

AceShowbiz - Red Hot Chili Peppers was forced to cancel their scheduled performance Saturday night, May 14 at the annual KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, California. Their frontman, Anthony Kiedis, suffered "extreme stomach pain" before the concert and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

"Unfortunately due to illness the @ChiliPeppers were forced to cancel their set tonight at #WeenieRoast," KROQ tweeted. RHCP's drummer Chad Smith wrote on his own Twitter page, "No one's more disappointed than us that we couldn't perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony."

After Kiedis was taken to hospital, Smith and his bandmates Flea and Josh Klinghoffer came onstage to explain why they were unable to perform. "We live to rock, we live to f**king dig deep into the depths of our hearts and rock, but unfortunately there's a medical thing that happened and we needed to deal with it, so we're unable tonight," Flea said. "We will play for you very soon, we will play for you like the feral animals that we are, and we're so sorry."

Red Hot Chili Peppers was supposed to perform at the annual Weenie Roast this year along with Panic At the Disco, Garbage, Cold War Kids, Fitz and the Tantrums, Empire of the Sun and Weezer. They are next scheduled to take the stage at iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, California on May 17.
