AceShowbiz - At 28, Olivia Wilde was deemed too "sophisticated" for the role of Leonardo DiCaprio's wife on "The Wolf of Wall Street". But the actress learned later that the term used actually meant "old". Actress Margot Robbie, who was in her early 20s at that time, snatched the role.
Wilde was on Howard Stern's radio show recently to promote "Vinyl", an HBO show that she did not audition for. She recalled, "The funniest thing I heard recently was I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated. And I was like, 'Oh, that sounds nice. I like that feedback. I didn't get the part, but I'm a very sophisticated person.' And then I found out later that they actually said 'old.' I want to make a translation sheet for Hollywood that's all the feedback your agents give you and what it really means."
She further explained, "I did not [audition for 'Vinyl'], because I had auditioned unsuccessfully for 'Wolf of Wall Street'. That's the one I was too old for." But director Martin Scorsese was so impressed by her audition tape that he cast her on the TV series.
To prevent any misunderstandings, Wilde took to Twitter on Wednesday, March 16 to clarify her comments. My point about not being cast in 'Wolf o W-Street' was that we have to trust the process because I ended up with my dream job on 'Vinyl'," she wrote, adding, "And my interview went on to say that Margot Robbie crushed that role like a sexy ninja and I LOVED her in it."
