There hasn't been any significant progress on the movie adaptation of Marvel Comics' "Red Sonja" but the character is still going to see the light, in a different platform. Rumor surfaces that "X-Men" director Bryan Singer is developing it as a TV series.

The news came from BleedingCool.com which also noted that the project would be R-Rated. This could only mean that the series will go to either cable like Showtime and HBO or streaming services like Netflix and Amazon.

Singer is in charge of directing the series and producing a long with Stephen L'Heureux and his Solipsist Films. Luke Lieberman, the licensor of the Red Sonja franchise, is executive producing with Jason Taylor. TWC/Dimension is financing the project.

Red Sonja had actually been adapted for the big screen in 1985, starring Brigitte Nielson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. There was another movie plan that took almost a decade in the making. Rose McGowan was due to take the titular role but she quit and joined "Conan". Amber Heard was later attached to replace McGowan but the project had been unheard for years now.
