According to the result of an autopsy, the star's brother died because of hypothermia from exposure to cold temperatures in Utah when he was probably walking to find help.

AceShowbiz - After nearly two months since Kristin Cavallari's brother Michael was found dead in Utah, the Grand County Sheriff's Office has revealed the cause of his death. According to the result of an autopsy, the 30-year-old man's death was caused by hypothermia from exposure to cold temperatures.
The medical examiner's report suggested that Michael died after prolonged exposure to the elements while he passed through a rural part of southern Utah. A source pointed out that at the time Michael was missing, temperatures in the area fell as low as the teens at night and around 30 during the day.
Michael's body was found three miles away from his abandoned car, which engine was still running, in the high desert of Grand County. There was no evidence drugs or alcohol in the car and it's believed that he was walking to find help.
Following his brother's tragic passing, Kristin took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message. "My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP," she captioned a throwback picture of herself and Michale when they're young.
