MTV Australia is accused of being racist over their tweet about Eva Longoria's and America Ferrera's jokes at the Golden Globe Awards.

AceShowbiz - MTV Australia came under fire for their tweet written in response to America Ferrera's and Eva Longoria's remarks during Golden Globe Awards about Latina actresses being mistaken for one another. Some found the tweet offensive and racist, putting MTV Australia into the doghouse.

Both Hollywood beauties took the stage to present Best Actor in a TV Drama which went to Jon Hamm for "Mad Men". "Hi, I'm Eva Longoria, not Eva Mendes," quipped Longoria, 40. Her co-persenter chimed in, "And hi, I'm America Ferrera, not Gina Rodriguez."

"And neither one of us are Rosario Dawson," the former "Desperate Housewives" actress added, to which the "Ugly Betty" alum jokingly responded, "Well said, Salma." The former was stunning in a white dress and the latter looked equally dazzling in a yellow gown.

MTV Australia later weighed in on it with their own joke on Twitter but it apparently rubbed some people the wrong way. "Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying #GoldenGlobes," the comment read.

Immediately controversy arose. "I would call you out on this @MTVAUSTRALIA but as I'm Latina, you might not understand what I'm typing here," Teen Vogue editor Ella Ceron fired back. Another criticized, "When the intern decides it would be funny to make a racist 'joke' @MTVAUSTRALIA."

MTV Australia then deleted the tweet and apologized for the blunder. "Our Tweet was in reference to @EvaLongoria &@AmericaFerrera's #GoldenGlobes joke. We sincerely apologize for causing offence," they explained. "We get it was a bad call. We'll leave the humour to @rickygervais."
