NBC has picked up the Dick Wolf-produced procedurals for season five and four respectively.

"Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." are here to stay. Both shows had been renewed, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced on Monday, November 9 during a press junket in Chicago.

The procedural shows from Dick Wolf will return for the 2016-2017 season. "Chicago Fire" scores a fifth season while its spin-off "Chicago P.D." will kick off its fourth season next year.

The early renewals are inevitable because both shows have been the network's juggernauts on their respective time slots. "Fire" draws 8.11 million viewers and 1.8 in the 18 - 49 demographic in its latest outings. "P.D." brings in 6.48 million viewers and a 1.4 in the same key demo.

The "Chicago" franchise will expand with a new spin-off titled "Chicago Med" which debuts next week.

The renewals came just hours after NBC announced the renewal of "Blindspot". The drama is the first freshman series to get a sophomore season this fall.
