Mark Ruffalo doesn't have good relationship with Catholicism. Speaking at the Boston premiere his new movie "Spotlight", the 47-year-old actor said that his not-so-good relationship with the religion was due to its hypocrisy and dogma.

"I grew up Catholic and the hypocrisy of it and the dogma of it had chilled my relationship with it very early on," Mark revealed. "Even as a boy, I could feel it. There was a cruelty in the way the nuns treated us. It just didn't jibe with the teachings of Christ that were being taught, you know?"

"Spotlight" talks about The Boston Globe's investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse by Catholic priests. The cast members admitted that starring in the movie changed their view of the Catholic church. Mark who plays reporter Michael Rezendes admitted that it was a deeply personal experience because he had friends who were victims of clergy abuse.

Rachel McAdams who portrays reporter Sacha Pfeiffer explained that it was a rewarding experience to star in the movie. "We saw a lot of people heal as a result of this, and that's a good feeling when you can help someone take that next step," she said. "It sounds cliche, but I always say this is a story that reminds me of the importance of questioning authority. Whether governmental, non-profit, religious, a for-profit entity... ask tough questions."

Besides Mark and Rachel, "Spotlight" stars Michael Keaton, Brian D'Arcy James,Stanley Tucci, Billy Crudup and John Slattery. The sex scandal film is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on November 6.
