Jeremy Renner backtracks on his remarks about gender wage gap in Hollywood. The actor who plays Hawkeye in Marvel Cinematic Universe previously caused a buzz after saying that it's not his job to help his female co-stars get equal pay in a movie.
His rep now says, "The context was that he is all for women or anyone having salary equality but that's someone else's job to handle and not his. He is most supportive but doesn't involve himself in those conversations so when asked he was basically saying that."
In a Sony email following the infamous hack scandal last year, it was revealed that Jennifer Lawrence was paid much less than her male co-stars like Renner, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale in "American Hustle".
After addressing the wage gap in an essay, Lawrence got support from various figures in Hollywood including "Hustle" director David O. Russell and Cooper. The actor said he was open to teaming up with his female co-star to negotiate salaries.
