He gave a shoutout to fellow nominee Jonathan Banks ("Better Call Saul") and thanked the cast of "Thrones" "which is like, thousands of people."

The Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series prize, meanwhile, went to Uzo Aduba. It was also her second Emmy win for her role as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on "Orange Is the New Black", but last year she was mentioned in Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category.

Due to the rule change for this year's Emmys, she was competing against the likes of Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones") and Christina Hendricks ("Mad Men"). She tearfully thanked her team in her acceptance speech, saying, "You let me be me."
