The English rock band will tour South America in early 2016 before heading to the studio to record their new album.

AceShowbiz - Keith Richards has confirmed that The Rolling Stones made "definite plans" to record new album next year. Speaking to iHeartRadio ICONS' Jim Kerr on Tuesday night, Keith said, "I was in London last week and the boys and I got together. And there are now definite plans to record."

Keith elaborated the plans in an interview with Rolling Stone. "[A new album] looks closer," he said. "Don't know where, don't know when yet ...We had a little chat. We were just saying, 'We gotta get in the studio right? Right?' 'That's agreed. Okay, boys, that's agreed.' Where, when - [we] scratch our heads."

The Rolling Stones will tour South America in early 2016 before heading to the studio to record their new album. "I would say off the top of my head after the South American tour in February," Keith shared, "But you never know. We might try to get into the studio before Christmas. I think that's sort of doubtful, with Christmas being Christmas, all that buildup. But at the same time, it's definitely in the works."

The new album will be the band's first piece since their 2005 album "A Bigger Bang".

Keith is currently promoting his new solo album "Crosseyed Heart" which is set to be released on Friday, September 18.
