As previously reported, Kanye West was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, August, 30. The rapper collected his trophy following an introduction from Taylor Swift, whose acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs he interrupted.

"I first met Kanye West six years ago at this show actually," said Swift, referring to the now-infamous incident. "Since then, we've had a lot of time to talk about a lot of different things. It seemed like everyone in the world knew about our infamous encounter at the VMAs."

She then revealed that West's "The College Dropout" was the first album she and her brother bought on iTunes at 12. The "Shake It Off" singer once again made a reference to the moment West crashed her stage in 2009 when she said, "I'm really happy for you, and I'ma let you finish, but Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time," before letting West take the stage and deliver a lengthy speech about being a father, what he really thought of award shows and many more. He concluded his speech with announcement that he's running for president in 2020.

Prior to receiving the big prize, West already took the stage with Big Sean when their "One Man Can Change the World" won the Best Video With a Social Message title. The song from Sean's "Dark Sky Paradise" album also features contribution from John Legend.
