Bryan Cranston is to star opposite James Franco in 20th Century Fox comedy "Why Him?" Cranston has signed up to play a Midwestern dad whose daughter dates tech billionaire, played by Franco.

John Hamburg is directing the film and co-writing the script with "Zoolander" scribe Ian Helfer. Ben Stiller is attached as producer alongside Shawn Levy. In the movie, Cranston will travel with his family to visit his daughter in college, only to find out he has to compete for her affection with the boyfriend. "Could not be more excited to work with my man, WALTER WHITE!!!!" Franco shared his excitement with his Instagram followers.

Cranston is best known as Walter White in AMC's award-winning series "Breaking Bad". The veteran actor and Franco are also working together in a film adaptation of John Steinbeck's "In Dubious Battle". Franco is directing and producing the project in addition to starring in as Mac McLeod.
