In the uproarious comedy "Why Him?", the Johnson family faces a holiday season like no other when their daughter, Stephanie, brings home her eccentric boyfriend, Laird. Played by the charmingly outrageous James Franco, Laird is a wealthy tech entrepreneur whose wild antics and unconventional lifestyle send her conservative father, Ned, portrayed by the ever-relatable Bryan Cranston, into a tailspin. As Ned struggles to accept his daughter's choice, he becomes increasingly determined to protect her from Laird's unconventional ways and questionable manners.
The film unfolds with a series of comedic misadventures as Ned attempts to sabotage Laird's attempts to win him over, leading to uproarious and unexpected confrontations. Meanwhile, Stephanie, played by the delightful Zoey Deutch, finds herself caught between her love for Laird and her father's disapproval. With the holiday spirit hanging in the balance, tensions rise and hilarity ensues, making for a riotous exploration of family dynamics, love, and acceptance.
Directed by John Hamburg, "Why Him?" blends sharp wit with heartfelt moments, creating an engaging atmosphere that resonates with anyone who's navigated the complexities of family relationships. With a talented supporting cast, including Megan Mullally, Zack Pearlman, and Griffin Gluck, this film promises laughter and warmth, ensuring viewers will be entertained from start to finish.
