The newly-released photos feature the titular villain as well as some X-Men members in X-Mansion's sub-basement.

AceShowbiz - Some new photos of upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse have arrived. The photos are released via the latest issue of Empire magazine, giving a look at Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till as Havok, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast in the X-Mansion's sub-basement.

Other photos feature Sophie Turner as Jean while hanging out with Tye Sheridan's Cyclops as well Michael Fassbender as young Magnetoas. Meanwhile, another photo looks identical to the previously-released photo which was debuted by EW. It features Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.

Coming along with the new photos is a statement from director Bryan Singer regarding the costume of Apocalypse. Earlier this month when EW gave a first look at the titular villain, fans were critical about it. They seemed to be disappointed to know the look of the villain, comparing it to Power Rangers' villain, Ivan Ooze.

In the magazine, the director defends it, implying that the costume was made to resemble the one in the comic books. "He'll be very similar to images in the comic," Singer says. "There's obviously something very futuristic and yet ancient to the design of both his costume and his physicality," he adds.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will take place in the 80s, a decade after "X-Men: Days of Future Past". X-Men members like Mystique, Beast, Magneto and Professor X team up to fight against the titular villain who has been unleashed from his Egyptian tomb. Written by Simon Kinberg, the movie is due to arrive in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2016.
