AceShowbiz - The first trailer for Catholic sex scandal film "Spotlight" has arrived. Starring Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton, the movie tells the story of The Boston Globe's investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse by Catholic priests.
Ruffalo and Keaton play Rezendes and Walter "Robby" Robinson, two Catholic-raised reporters for the newspaper, who struggle to uncover six alleged incidents of child sexual abuse. With the help of their fellow journalists played by Rachel McAdams, Brian D'Arcy James and Stanley Tucci, the duo manage to convince their editor Marty Baron (Liev Schreiber) to go on a long-term journalistic investigation, which they call "Spotlight."
At the end of the trailer, when Rezendes has found the evidence of the case, he yells, "They knew and they let it happen. It could have been you, it could have been me, it could have been any of us."
According to the official synopsis, "when the newspaper's tenacious 'Spotlight' team of reporters delve into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston's religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world."
Billy Crudup is also in the cast lineup as well as John Slattery. Directed by Academy Award-nominee Thomas McCarthy, "Spotlight" will arrive in U.S. theaters on November 6.
