"Transformers" cinematic universe has found its writers. According to Deadline, Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura have picked some A-list writers to join Akiva Goldsman in helping develop spin-offs and sequels for the movie franchise.

Those new writers are "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman, "Iron Man 3" writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, "Pacific Rim 2" writer Zak Penn and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" writer Jeff Pinkner. The site reports that there are more writers to be added.

Art and Matt are currently working for the upcoming "Highlander" reboot. Besides "Pacific Rim 2", Zak is the credited screenwriter for "Elektra" and "X-Men: The Last Stand". Jeff, meanwhile, previously worked as writer on some JJ Abrams TV series including "Alias", "Lost" and "Fringe".

Last month, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner announced that "Transformers 5" would be released in 2017. He also confirmed Akiva was recruited to build a larger Avengers-style cinematic universe based on the toy line with multi-sequels and spin-offs among the outputs.

The latest installment of "Transformers" film series "Transformers: Age of Extinction" grossed nearly $1.1 billion and became the top-grossing release ever in China. Despite gross payouts which included Michael and Mark Wahlberg, it still generated $250 million profits net. Mark is expected to reprise his role in upcoming installment.
