Robert Downey Jr. admitted that he recently reunited with ex Sarah Jessica Parker in New York. He opened up in an interview with Howard Stern on Tuesday, April 28 about the meeting and how his ex had impressed him.

"You know how life goes and so many things happen, particularly when you're looking at the back nine and you're not a kid anymore," Downey Jr. told Stern. "You go, 'You know, this trip to New York, as opposed to just doing what's required of me. I wanna check in with someone I shared a big part of my life with and say hi.' "

The "%Iron Man%" star revealed that he came to Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick's apartment. The former couple, who dated for seven years before breaking up in 1991, had a dinner together. "Private stuff aside, we were able to spend some time together and it was really cool. I went over to her place and then we went down the street [to have dinner]," he said.

It seemed like Downey Jr. was really excited to be meeting his ex. "You know, the funny thing too, is you always have a perception of somebody that you spent a big chunk of your life with and I think it's typical to the human thing that the further you get away from that in your new relationship, you [unintentionally] taint your perception of the person," he told Stern.

He talked a lot about Parker and gave her plenty compliments. "Seeing her I was like, 'She's so great and so cool and so funny and so in-command,' " he added. "I got to meet her kids and I saw the way she and [her husband] live and I respect both of them so much."

Downey Jr. and Parker dated after meeting on the set of 1984's movie "Firstborn". Parker has a son and twin daughters with husband Broderick, while Downey Jr. has two daughters from his marriage with Susan Downey. He also has a son from his marriage with singer Deborah Falconer.
