Nelly is no longer expected to play an upcoming concert at Missouri University. The school announced in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 14 that they'd decided to cancel the rapper's scheduled appearance.
Nelly was supposed to perform in Springfield on April 23. The university's officials didn't give a clear reason, but the cancellation came just days after the star was arrested in Tennessee on suspicion of drug possession.
He was arrested on Saturday, April 11 by the Tennessee Highway Patrol who first pulled over his tour bus because the vehicle was missing two required stickers, one for the U.S. Department of Transportation and another one for International Fuel Tax Association.
Troopers then smelled marijuana and after searching the bus, they found five rocks that tested positive for meth, a small amount of drug paraphernalia and numerous handguns. Nelly was taken to Putnam County Jail and later released on a $10,000 bond.
Following the arrest, Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenblum issued a statement stating that his client's innocent. "We are extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered," he wrote.
