ABC has found its "Uncle Buck" in Mike Epps and the network thus signed him to star in its upcoming comedy feature as the lead male Buck Russell. His character was described as a "lovable dreamer and Will's older brother who essentially raised him as a child."

Joining Epps on the cast ensemble was actress Nia Long who will be portraying "Will's wife Alexis, the founder of her own nonprofit that mentors at-risk girls", The Hollywood Reporter reported. While no other cast have been named, it has been confirmed that Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley will pen the pilot with Will Packer serving as executive producer. Phil Traill has been booked to direct.

ABC’s “Uncle Buck” is based on John Hughes' movie of the same title "about a childish man who learns how to be an adult by taking care of his brother's kids in a very childish way". Actor John Candy used to take on the male lead role in the 1989 feature.

Epps is best known for starring in a number of hit films, naming two most famous were “The Hangover” and “Resident Evil” film franchise. He was last seen appearing in the music video for Chris Brown and Tyga's collaboration "Ayo".
