Brandon Routh will slip into another superhero's costume. The actor, best known as the titular hero in 2006's film "Superman Returns", will make his debut as The Atom in the February 25 episode of The CW's series "Arrow". First look at Routh in the Atom armor has now made its way out online.
Routh has been recurring on the show as a scientist and inventor named Ray Palmer. The Atom will later appear on "Arrow" spin-off "The Flash" in an episode titled "All Star Teamup". "The Flash" lead star Grant Gustin teases the forthcoming crossover by posting on Instagram a photo of the Flash costume displayed along with the Atom armor.
"Arrow" and "The Flash" writer/executive producer Greg Berlanti has said there's a chance that The Atom would get his own series. "We're in very early talks on a very general idea that we haven't dug deeper yet," he said. The CW president Mark Pedowitz added, "There's room for a lot of things, but we're not there...preliminary discussions."
"Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 P.M. on The CW.
