The former 'American Idol' judge and the 'Watcha Say' singer will join original judge Nigel Lythgoe on the upcoming 'Stage vs. Street' season of 'So You Think You Can Dance'.

AceShowbiz - Paula Abdul is returning to FOX, six years after leaving the "American Idol" judging panel. She is signed on to be one of the new judges on the upcoming season 12 of "So You Think You Can Dance". The other new addition is Jason Derulo.
Abdul and Derulo will join original judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe when the dancing competition returns this summer. They will take over a vacant seat left by Mary Murphy and another usually given to guest judges in the past.
"With the new and exciting format comes a new and exciting panel of judges," Lythgoe said. "I'm delighted that Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will be joining me at the judges' table this season. Paula is an incredible artist and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel. Jason's insight, humor and creativity will add a new perspective to the panel that we haven't had before."
"I have dedicated a large part of my career as a choreographer to discovering and mentoring some of the most iconic artists and performers from all over the world," Abdul gushed. " 'So You Think You Can Dance' has a long-standing history of launching brilliant careers for young choreographers and dancers in the industry."

Next season, "SYTYCD" will pit stage dancers (contemporary, ballet, jazz, tap) against street dancers (hip-hop, animation, breaking).Audition kicks off in New York on January 24. It continues in Dallas (February 14), Detroit (February 22), Memphis (March 8), and Los Angeles (March 15).
