Taron Egerton breaks silence following a report that he tested for the role of young Cyclops in "X-Men: Apocalypse". The actor who is currently promoting his new film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" spoke of the superhero movie during a Q&A session and denied that he was up for the role.

"I can't really comment on the Cyclops thing. I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that's come from," he said. "But my friend, [Nicholas Hoult], plays Beast and he says that's very fun. I don't know. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying that I would like to go play, what was it, Cyclops. So I don't know."

According to Latino Review, Egerton alongside Tye Sheridan ("Mud") and Jamie Blackley ("If I Stay") are among those who are eyed for the role played by James Marsden in the previous "X-Men" installments. Regarding the casting report, TheWrap's Jeff Sneider shared over the weekend that Sheridan is the frontrunner to play Cyclops.

Filming for the upcoming "X-Men" movie is set to start in April with Bryan Singer returning as the director. Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence are expected to reprise their respective roles as Magneto, Charles Xavier, Beast and Mystique. It is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2016.
