On heels of rumor that Spider-Man may come to Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new report surrounding the fate of the on-screen web slinger emerges. According to the latest scoop from Badass Digest, The Avengers crossover is just one of the three options Sony is mulling over for Spidey after "The Amazing Spider-Man" didn't perform well in the U.S.
Another plan is reportedly to give Spider-Man a soft reboot with "The Sinister Six", having a new actor playing a Spidey who works with the villains The Dirty Dozen style to take down a larger threat. The studio is also considering to bench the character for four or five years and see if they can develop any of the side characters into their own franchises.
One of the side characters in Spider-Man universe that Sony has announced to adapt into a movie is Venom, but Badass Digest reports the movie is killed. Alex Kurtzman, who along with Roberto Orci penned the two installments of "The Amazing Spider-Man" series, was initially attached to write and direct the spin-off.
Meanwhile, "Sinister Six" attracts new face for behind-the-lens duty. "The Cabin in the Woods" helmer Drew Goddard is set to helm and write the screenplay. The anti-hero movie is planned for November 11, 2016 release.
