Sony is reportedly negotiating to get the web-slinger to come to the Marvel on-screen universe.

Sony and Marvel could share Spider-Man on the big screen. The two giant movie companies are allegedly negotiating to add the web slinger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe which is currently occupied by The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.

"I'm hearing that there are some very cool 'Spider-Man' plans being discussed that would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom's minds," HitFix's Drew McWeeny wrote.

The blogger added, "What seems clear from what I've heard is that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means the world gets bigger again."

Though Sony is the home of Spider-Man movies, the graphic novel was published by Marvel Comics. Spider-Man crosses paths with Marvel's Mightiest Heroes in "Civil War" comic series. It shows those superheroes finding themselves upon different sides.

Before "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was released this summer to lukewarm response Stateside, producer Avi Arad ruled out a possible crossover with "The Avengers". He told TotalFilm, "I for one don't see the value for us in it. I think we're doing such a good job with the Spider-Man Universe. Spider-Man is arguably the number one character in the world. He shouldn't make a cameo." He, however, added that if there was "a natural alliance for some reason...I cannot talk for Sony."
