'Big Brother' Renewed Up to 2016
TV

Thanks to its growing ratings, the reality show will be part of CBS' broadcast in 2015 and 2016 seasons.

CBS has so much faith in "Big Brother" that it has renewed the reality show for two more seasons. The 17th and 18th edition will air in summer 2015 and 2016 respectively.

"Big Brother continues to be the one of the summer's most dominant programs, and with each season, Allison [Grodner] and Rich [Meehan] produce the most twisted ways to evolve the series creatively," said Chris Castallo, CBS executive vice president of alternative programming. "With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show comes close to duplicating it."

Hosted by Julie Chen, "Big Brother" has grown in its viewership this season. It averages 7.56 million and scores 2.7 in the 18-49 demographic. The 16th edition airs its 90-minute finale on Wednesday, September 24.

The companion series "Big Brother After Dark" has also been renewed. The live late-night look inside the House will air exclusively on POP, a new cable network launching in 2015.
