Hulu orders an original series about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The TV streaming company is developing a miniseries based on best-selling author Stephen King's book "11/22/63".

"Stephen King is one of my literary heroes," exec producer Bridget Carpenter said in a press release. "Creating this miniseries from his extraordinary book is a dream come true." King will also be an exec producer while Carpenter will also write.

The nine-hour thriller follows a high school teacher who travels back in time to try to stop the assassination of Kennedy, but his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, falling in love and a past that does not want to change. "If I ever wrote a book that cries out for long-form, event TV programming, '11/22/63' is it," King said.

The series will be produced by Bad Robot which is owned by J.J. Abrams. "I've been a fan of Stephen King since I was in junior high school," Abrams said in a statement. "The chance to work with him at all, let alone on a story so compelling, emotional and imaginative, is a dream."
