In honor of Robin Williams, PBS plans a tribute special that will air nationally on Tuesday, September 9 at 9 P.M. ET. In "Robin Williams Remembered - A Pioneers of Television Special", friends of the late actor remember and share memories of the Academy Award-winning actor.

The one-hour special will also feature Williams' last full-length television interview, including never-before-seen footage of he sharing stories from his early days as a stand-up comedian, his desire to be a dramatic actor and his efforts to entertain U.S. troops overseas.

The program will include an exclusive, new interview with Williams' former "Mork & Mindy" co-star Pam Dawber. Other fellow stars to pay tribute to the comedian include Henry Winkler, Yakov Smirnoff, Louie Anderson, Paul Rodriguez, Rick Overton, Blake Clark, Pauly Shore, George Schlatter, Penny Marshall, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Stiller and Jimmie Walker.

"We were fortunate to sit down with Robin Williams quite recently for the PIONEERS OF TELEVISION series," says executive producer Steve Boettcher. "We wanted to share with PBS viewers the Robin that we saw - the very unassuming, caring, genuine and gentle man who took his acting seriously, but was able to make others laugh. We hope this special provides more insight to this incredible man, in his own words."

Williams was found dead at his home in Tiburon, California on August 11. His body was cremated one day after he passed away and his ashes were scattered in the San Fransisco Bay. He had been battling depression and Parkinson's Disease prior to his passing at the age of 63.
