AceShowbiz - Mary J. Blige is releasing a new album later this year. In a new interview with The Observer, the singer revealed that her new LP would be titled "The London Sessions" and she had worked with some of the brightest British stars for it.
Recorded earlier this summer in the U.K., the album is due out sometime in fall. Sam Smith, who previously partnered with Blige on the new version of his hit "Stay With Me", penned multiple tracks for the project, including a doo-wop track called "Therapy" that he co-wrote with Jimmy Napes.
Disclosure, Emeli Sande and Naughty Boy are other names enlisted by Blige for "The London Sessions". Producer Rodney Jerkins also made contributions to the album.
"The sound in London at the moment is house music. That is what the majority of people are producing their songs like. But the ones that get truly successful are the ones using proper songwriting," she told The Observer of what made the U.K. so appealing to her.
"Rudimental for example - they write proper songs and then produce them like dance music. And that is exactly what we're trying to do, along with a few other people. But that applies to any genre, not just dance music. You could take the songs off Sam Smith's album, produce them in a completely different way and they would still be a huge success - you could produce them like acid jazz and I still feel like they'd get somewhere," she continued.
