Mick Jagger opened up about his late girlfriend, L'Wren Scott, in an pre-taped interview with "Today" show on July 18. Mick spoke out about his life since L'Wren's death for the first time and also talked about upcoming movie "Get On Up", a biopic of James Brown which was co-produced by him.

When asked about how his life was after the death of his girlfriend, Mick replied, "I'm doing OK. It was difficult, you know, very hard year, but I got back into it by working on touring with the Stones in Europe, and doing other things, including this great movie. [I've gotten] a lot of support and I really appreciate that."

L'Wren was found dead in her apartment in New York on March 17. Her assistant found her hanging by the door handle with a scarf wound around her neck. Mick, who was on tour at that time, canceled his concerts and went back home to attend the private funeral for L'Wren at All Saints Church in Pasadena, California.

Talking about James' biopic, Mick said, "James Brown is a guy who comes from absolutely nothing, from nowhere, he has nothing, and he wants to be someone. He wants to be a big star, and he's going to work like crazy to become a big star. And it's about the effects on his personality. 'When you achieve that goal, what happens to you?' "

The frontman of The Rolling Stones told the host about how James had influenced him, "It wasn't an influence like, 'Oh, I'm going to cop his move or I'm going to cop his songwriting.' The main thing I copped from him, which I think is a good thing to learn for any performer, is the way he interacted with the audience. The way he charmed them. The way he told them what to do. The way he gave them his emotions. The way he expected them to give back."

Mick co-produces the biopic titled "Get On Up" which stars Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer. The movie will hit U.S. theaters on August 1.
