'Breaking Bad' Alternate Ending Sees Bryan Cranston Waking Up From Nightmare

Cranston reprises his 'Malcolm in the Middle' role of Hal in the playful ending for the AMC crime drama series, telling his wife that he just dreamed he's a meth dealer.

An alternate ending for "Breaking Bad", which will be included on the "Breaking Bad: The Complete Series" DVD box set, has leaked online. This version puts a goofy twist on the tragic ending for Bryan Cranston's Walter White as the actor reprises his "Malcolm in the Middle" of Hal to reveal that the events on the AMC series were nothing but a dream.

Featuring Jane Kaczmarek as his wife Lois, the clip sees Hal recounting his nightmare. He says that he dreamed he was bald, had a hot blonde wife and cooked meth. "You grow a beard," Lois tries to calm down her agitated husband, "and suddenly you think you're Osama bin Laden."

When she's about to get back to sleep, Hal makes a sex move under the sheets like what Walt did to Anna Gunn's Skyler White on "Breaking Bad". Lois tells him to stop it and as Hal turns off the light, the camera pans out to show a black porkpie hat, which is similar to Walt's hat, in the bedroom.

This alternate ending also serves as a tribute to 1980s' sitcom "Newhart", where Bob Newhart's character woke up from his dream next to his wife from his previous show.

The "Breaking Bad" complete box set will be available for purchase on November 26.

Cranston once shared his idea for a potential "Breaking Bad" ending, "The one that gets around the most is he goes into the witness protection program and that's the start of 'Malcolm in the Middle'. He goes into the witness protection program, his family is splintered, remarries and then begins 'Malcolm in the Middle'."
