"Duck Dynasty" has outperformed itself once again. The A&E hit reality series returned huge, drawing a whopping 11.8 million viewers which set a new record for the most-watched non-fiction series in cable history.

That's over 2 million more than the season 3 finale, which at the time set a ratings record for the network with 9.6 million viewers. The number also surpassed the biggest viewership by TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8", which previously held the record for a non-fiction cable series with 10.6 million audience.

The August 14 outing lured in 6.3 million adults 18-49 and 3.0 million adults 18-34, becoming the number one series telecast in network history among all key demos. It is poised to be the No.1 show on television, broadcast or cable, on Wednesday night.

"Thanks to its authentic and engaging characters 'Duck Dynasty' has become more than just a reality show, it is a cultural phenomenon," David McKillop, General Manager and Executive Vice President of A&E, says of the show's performance. "We would like to thank the Robertsons for their incredible partnership. We are all Happy, Happy, Happy."

In other news, "Duck Dynasty" star Willie Robertson has responded to rumors that he's wanted by Republicans to run for Congress to replace Rodney Alexander. "I heard I was doing that. That's news to me," he told "The Five" hosts. "I'm kinda busy right now. I gotta lot of stuff going on."
