"Girls" took home two prizes in total at the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards. The HBO series got its first win at the Sunday, January 13 event through Lena Dunham's Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical kudo.

"This award is for everyone who's every felt like there wasn't a space for her," said the Hannah Horvath depicter when receiving her first Golden Globe gong. The actress, who also created the show, was later back on the stage to accept the Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical for the Judd Apatow-executive produced series.

"It took a village to raise this very demented child," she said. She also thanked Chad Lowe because she always promised that she would. It's unclear what Dunham's relation to Lowe is, but he is known for his role on "Life Goes On" which earned him an Emmy award. He's also the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe and the former husband of actress Hilary Swank.

Also claiming multiple wins that night were "Homeland" and "Game Change" with three each. The Showtime thriller nabbed the Best TV Series - Drama title and paired up the best drama series actor (Damian Lewis) and actress (Claire Danes) prizes.

The show won the best drama series and the best drama series actress kudo last year, while Lewis lost to Kelsey Grammer for the best drama series actor award in 2012. This year, the show led Mandy Patinkin to get nominated for the Best Supporting Actor in a TV series, miniseries or movie, but Ed Harris of "Game Change" ultimately won the prize.

The HBO movie had its other win through Julianne Moore's Best Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television kudo. The political drama additionally snatched the Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television gong, beating out "The Girl", "Hatfields & McCoys", "The Hour" and "Political Animals".

Other TV winners at the 2013 Golden Globes were Don Cheadle of "House of Lies" (Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical), Kevin Costner of "Hatfields & McCoys" (Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television), and Maggie Smith of Downton Abbey" (Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television).
