After playing Clint Eastwood's buddy in baseball drama "Trouble with the Curve", Justin Timberlake could end up starring as an alcoholic who is also a food expert in his next film. Variety reports that the "In Time" actor is currently in talks to topline a romantic dramedy called "The Last Drop".
The former boybander is expected to tackle the male lead role, a "charming alcoholic who works as a restaurant critic for New York Magazine." As he starts to fall in love with a woman, he realizes that he has to overcome his substance abuse problem before losing everything, including his life.
Set to work behind the lens is "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" helmer Peter Sollett. Brandon and Phil Murphy wrote the screenplay, which was included on the 2012 Black List. Serving as the producer is Greg Shapiro, who previously worked for "The Hurt Locker".
No further details are provided about when "The Last Drop" will begin filming and is expected to be released. The film also hasn't cast an actress to play the love interest of Timberlake's character.
Timberlake's other upcoming projects include the Coen brother's folk music pic "Inside Llewyn Davis" which also stars Carey Mulligan, and Brad Furman's online gaming drama "Runner, Runner" which also stars Ben Affleck.
