Carson Daly is asking for forgiveness after making joke about gay people as he weighed in on the recent mid-flight meltdown of JetBlue pilot Clayton Osbon during his morning radio show. The current host of "The Voice" expressed his regret for offending the LGBT community through a statement he sent to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

"We live in a time where gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals find courage every day to overcome adversity, stand up to bullying and find equality," acknowledged the 38-year-old TV personality in the beginning of his apologetic statement. He went on to say, "I'm truly saddened that my words today suggested otherwise."

"I've long been a supporter of gay, lesbian, and transgender rights, and I'm saddened that my comments, however unintentional, offended anyone, specifically members of the LGBT community," he continued. "The fact that I have hurt anyone is devastating. I'm not that guy. I'm proud to be an ally of the LGBT community and will continue to fight with them."

It isn't the only apology Daly issued on Wednesday, March 28 after joking that gays would not have been able to restrain Osbon like the brave men on the JetBlue flight. Hours earlier, the former MTV VJ took to his Twitter to say, "This morning on my radio show I attempted to make fun of myself & offended others by mistake. I sincerely apologize."

Daly discussed Osbon's March 27 meltdown on Flight 191 on his Los Angeles radio show on Wednesday morning. "Most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas. It was like a bunch of dudes, and well-trained dudes," he said. "With my luck, it would be like, 'This is the flight going to [the gay pride parade] in San Francisco.' I mean, that would be my colleagues."
