Justin Bieber is getting credit for a recent boost in the dramatic rise of organ donor registrations in Ontario, Canada. The Trillium Gift of Life Network reported that since the "Baby" hitmaker answered a plea made by Helene Campbell, who's awaiting for a lung transplant, more than 1,200 people have registered online for donation.

"Helene has done an incredible job inspiring and motivating Ontarians to register their consent to organ and tissue donation," Ronnie Gavsie, President and CEO of the organization, first said in a statement released to the press on Wednesday, January 25. "On an average day we would expect about 50 new online registrations."

Gavsie continued on, "Since Helene's campaign began last Thursday, the average has been closer to 200 per day! There are over 1,500 people in Ontario waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, on behalf of all them and Trillium Gift of Life Network, thank you Helene and thank you Justin Bieber!"

Bieber's Twitter exchange with Campbell, whose username @alungstory, began Saturday, January 21. At the time, the pop sensation retweeted the 20-year-old's tweet that reads, "Hey @justinbieber! I BELIEB you should use that Canadian voice of yours and help save lives like mine #beanorgandonor beadonor.ca #giveblood."

The 17-year-old then followed it up with a series of tweets that spread the word about organ and blood donation. "i got the word....you have amazing strength. i got u. #BeAnOrganDonor," and "help spread the word for @alungstory https://www.alungstory.ca/ #BeAnOrganDonor" were among them.

In turn, Campbell wrote, "@justinbieber you have made a huge impact,not only on my life,but for many others in need of the gift of life now and in the future!#BELIEVE." Bieber then wrote back, "@alungstory glad to be able to help. best part of what i do."
