The two series are among a few of rookies which make it onto the list, which still includes such award-winning series as 'Modern Family', 'The Good Wife' and 'Boardwalk Empire'.

AceShowbiz - The race for the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards has officially begun with the announcement of its nominees on early Wednesday, December 14. Among the bunch, there are only a few of newbies which manage to put their actors/actresses in the run for the coveted titles.

In the Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series, for example, there is Jessica Lange of FX's new series "American Horror Story". She is pitted against Kathy Bates ("Harry's Law"), Glenn Close ("Damages"), Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife") and Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer").

"Game of Thrones", which has got warm reception during its first season, is nominated for the best ensemble in drama along with "Boardwalk Empire", "Breaking Bad", "Dexter" and "The Good Wife". Another new series which makes it onto the list is USA's "Suits". Its actor Patrick J. Adams lands on male star in drama series category alongside Steve Buscemi ("Boardwalk Empire"), Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights"), Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad") and Michael C. Hall ("Dexter").

Leading in terms of number is "Modern Family" which gets 5 nods. It leads Sofia Vergara to snatch a nomination for best female actor in comedy for the second time. This year, she faces off her own co-star Julie Bowen as well as Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), Tina Fey ("30 Rock") and Betty White ("Hot in Cleveland").

Comedienne White also grabs another nomination through her role on TV movie "The Lost Valentine". Scoring 2 nods this year, the 89-year-old actress states, "This is incredible to be recognized by my fellow members of the Screen Actors Guild for two of my favorite projects." She praises her co-workers on both projects before adding, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

The 18th annual SAG Awards will hand out the kudos for the winners in both TV and movie field on Sunday, January 29. The prize-giving event will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS starting at 8 P.M. EST.
