AceShowbiz - The 2011 Los Angeles Film Critics Awards, whose prizes are an early influence on the way to the Academy Awards, has announced its winners on Sunday, December 11. This year, %cGeorge Clooney%-starring dramedy "The Descendants" was honored with the coveted Best Picture award, while "The Tree of Life" was named the runner-up.
The prestigious film critics awards also picked "Rango" as the Best Animation, while Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn" trailed behind. Meanwhile, %cMichael Fassbender% and Korean actress %cYun Jung-Hee% were named the Best Actor and Actress respectively.
Other winners of the annual awards included %cJessica Chastain% and %cChristopher Plummer% as the Best Supporting Actress and Actor respectively, Terrence Malick as the Best Director, and Asghar Farhadi for the Best Screenplay. %cThe Chemical Brothers% also won the Best Music/Score award for composing the original score for thriller film "Hanna".
Beside the 2011 Los Angeles Film Critics Awards, there were two more prestigious film critics awards that have announced their winners on Sunday. They were New York Film Critics Online Awards and Boston Society of Film Critics Awards, which both picked silent drama "The Artist" as the winner of Best Picture.
While NYFCO named %cMichael Shannon% and %cMeryl Streep% the Best Actor and Actress respectively, BSFC picked %cBrad Pitt% and %cMichelle Williams% to receive the same awards. As for the Best Supporting Actor and Actress, both associations chose %cAlbert Brooks% and %cMelissa McCarthy% as the winners.
