Jason Castro can officially add father to his resume. The singer, who finished fourth on season 7 of "American Idol", and wife Mandy welcomed their first child together on Sunday, August 28, and he has since taken to Twitter to share a photo of himself holding his baby girl.
In a caption explaining the photo, the 24-year-old simply wrote, "Daddy's girl." He later revealed that he and his wife have named their daughter, Madeline Emilia Castro, by retweeting his wife's post which read, "My beautiful baby girl, Madeline Emilia Castro!!!", and gave a link to a close-up photo of the newborn.
Just hours earlier, Jason informed his Twitter followers that he's about to become a father. "My wife woke up at 5:30 this morning with contractions," so he wrote, "came to the birth center and they sent us home! we werent quite ready.. until now!" In a series of following tweets, he added, "Excited to meet my baby girl today! maybe we shouldn't have stayed up till 2 watching movies..."
Jason broke the news that he and his wife were expecting a child together back in April. "Now, I am excited to announce that there will be a new addition to the Castro family! My wife and I are expecting our first child this August," he announced on his website. "We just found out yesterday that it is going to be a girl!"
