While Elin Nordegren has been staying completely mum regarding the affair reports addressed to her husband Tiger Woods, her best friend tennis player Lindsay Davenport tells Entertainment Tonight the former model handles her marital woes with class. "She's incredibly hurt by what has gone on, but she handles herself with class, and she's working it out as best she can," says the athlete.

Lindsay, moreover, sets the record straight on reports that Elin deliberately attacked Tiger with a golf club after finding out about an alleged affair. "Certainly she did not go after [Woods] physically and go after him with a golf club. That is not what happened," insists the three-time Grand Slam tennis champ, adding that Elin is a "very loving, very loyal" and "level headed" person.

In further interview with Entertainment Tonight, which was aired on Monday, December 7, Lindsay admits she has spoken to Elin since news of Tiger's alleged affairs broke out. "I don't think Elin particularly cares what people think about her," she muses. "The illusion and the identity out there about her is not her. Although she is having a tough time, she's really trying to get through it for the kids [daughter Sam, 2, and son Charlie, 10 months]. What people are saying about her is not what happened."

"Nobody wants to go through divorce, especially when there's young children involved," Lindsay concludes. "Her priority [is] her children Sam and Charlie. She's obviously protecting them from the media. Everyone's wish when you get married is to make it work and we'll see if they're able to do that."

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have been married since October 2004. According to multiple reports, the pair is currently staying at their Florida mansion to undergo intense marriage counseling in a bid to save their marriage.
