At D23 Fan Expo, Disney with the help of Johnny Depp unveils that the fourth installment of its pirate series will be called 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and released in summer 2011.

Major announcement regarding the latest installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean" series has been delivered during Disney's D23 fan convention. On Friday morning, September 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Walt Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook revealed that the fourth movie will be called "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides".
On the occasion, Cook also made public that this fourth "Pirates" movie is aimed to be released in theaters across the U.S. by summer 2011. During the revelation, the mouse house's topper was accompanied by surprise guest Johnny Depp who sailed on-stage in a pirate ship and in his Captain Jack Sparrow costume.
As it eyes a summer 2011 release, "On Stranger Tides" is said to gear up for production that will begin around April or May 2010. With two stars of its first three movies, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, out of the cast ensemble, Disney's alleged plan for the fourth installment was to hopefully make it "the first of another trilogy".
"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" has been said to be focusing solely on Sparrow's character. The story supposedly will follow the eccentric pirate in his quest to find the Fountain of Youth. Though he will not be accompanied by Will and Elizabeth, Sparrow will have Captain Barbossa in his team as the unlikely duo are forced to team up in order to "defeat some supernatural terror".
This adventure comedy is currently director-less. Director Gore Verbinski, the helmer of the first three "Pirates" movie has chosen to bow out from directing this latest project for "Bioshock". On his leave, the 45-year-old said, "I had a fantastic time bringing 'Pirates' to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team."
