A statement was issued by Oprah Winfrey in response to Chris Brown's accusation that the queen of talk show was leaning more into Rihanna rather than him. Through her spokeswoman, Oprah said that she is thankful for all the effort that the singer has done but she encourages him to get help.
Earlier this week Brown revealed to People his disappointment of Oprah. He said, "I commend Oprah on being like, 'This is a problem,' but it was a slap in my face. I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, 'OK, I'm going to help both of these people out.' "
But from Oprah's point of view, she is "very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs."
"The Oprah Winfrey Show" staged a domestic abuse-themed episode last Spring in the wake of Chris Brown-Rihanna February incident. She dedicated the show to "all the Rihannas in the world" with the note that " love doesn't hurt" and that "if a man hits you once, he will hit you again."
