NBC have started overlooking the future of their shows, giving a renewal for some and giving a question mark for the non potential ones. Golden Globe winning series "30 Rock" is unquestionably one of those going to the 'yes' tray along with "The Office" and reality show "The Biggest Loser". All three shows have been showing a growth in ratings in fall and mid seasons.

Meanwhile, uncertainty revolves around "Lipstick Jungle", "Kath & Kim" as well as "Knight Rider". They are not as lucky as "Heroes", which despite its declining rate, is said to have a "very secure" future. "We have a great relationship with (creator) Tim Kring," new primetime entertainment president Angela Bromstad said. "... What's important is we never lose sight of being responsible in production."

To anticipate the empty slots, NBC have prepared several new shows including John Wells' drama "Southland" which will take over "ER" timeslot when it wraps up on April 2. In fact "ER" is given additional three episodes order to give enough time for "Southland" to prepare. The new show is described as a "fast-moving drama that'll take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims, and their families."

Others to crowd the network's midseason would be "The Apprentice" Celebrity edition (March 1), cooking competition "The Chopping Block" (March 11), new comedy "Kings" (March 15) and a not-yet-titled comedy by "Saturday Night Live" alumna Amy Poehler (April 9).

"We have to have the quality and have to have the ratings. We have to strive for that. But we won't replace shows that are loved by fans and are good quality shows just to put another show on," Bromstad said further.
