There had been some talks about creating a spin-off to popular teen drama, "Gossip Girl", and some new details that confirm further on the development of the series have been unearthed by Star Magazine. On which characters will be given a focus on the spin-off, Star claimed to have heard from The CW's insider that it will be on the younger versions of Rufus and Lily.

"The show will focus on the early romance between Lily and Rufus," the insider told the publication. "It begins when they first meet, during a time when Rufus and his band are at the height of their career. The show will follow the high society and rock 'n' roll lifestyle in New York."

With the main characters of the spin-off are now revealed, it is then indirectly clarified that none of the cast in "Gossip Girl" is going to leave the original show to star in the new one. The production team reportedly is seeking the younger versions of Rufus and Lily's actors, Matthew Settle and Kelly Rutherford respectively. The insider claimed further, "Producers are planning to introduce the new couple during a flashback scene in an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl."

The spin-off is slated to start rolling the camera in February 2009.

Update: The show's producer and the studio deny the fact that there will even be a spin-off, telling E! Kristin Dos Santos, "Contrary to the rumors and false reports breaking in the tabloids, there is no approved concept and/or confirmation of a Gossip Girl spinoff at this time."
