A possible first look into Johnny Depp's character, Mad Hatter, in "Alice in Wonderland" has been unearthed. Bringing it up to the surface was Depp's fansite, Johnny-Depp.org, which claimed to get the pic from Wicked Wench. In the picture, it can be seen that Depp holds a rabbit close to his chest. He is portrayed with dark eyes, pale face and bandaged left thumb.
Though the fansite claims the image to be the first pic of the Mad Hatter, many doubt whether the image is real since the character will most likely be presented in motion capture. Cinematical, in particular, suggests that it may be a concept art for the character or a painting of the character " that may or may not show up in the background of a scene".
In "Alice", Depp will star opposite titular character's depicter, Mia Wasikowska. He will also be joined by other co-stars that include Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen and Alan Rickman.
Based on the Lewis Carroll classic of the same name, "Alice in Wonderland" will be Tim Burton-directed project that will combine performance-capture imagery with live-action footage. The script is penned by Linda Woolverton, and the film itself is expected to hit U.S. theaters on March 5, 2010.
