Grammy Award-nominated rapper Mos Def has been set to join the star-studded cast of the upcoming drama musical "Cadillac Records". According to Hollywood Reporter, the 34-year-old hip-hop artist has been tapped to play the rock 'n' roll legend Chuck Berry.

By playing the influential figure in the rock 'n' roll music, Def is the latest addition to the cast that include Adrien Brody, Beyonce Knowles, Columbus Short, Cedric the Entertainer, Gabrielle Union. In bringing the story of Chess Records' rise and fall to the big screen, the rapper whose acting skills are also recognized by the entertainment industry will join the other theps in New Jersey since the film is currently being shot there.

Def has appeared in many Hollywood feature films, including "Monster's Ball", "Showtime", "The Italian Job", "16 Blocks" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby". The rapper whose real name is Dante Terrell Smith has also received many awards nominations for his acting roles, including for his portrayal of Vivien Thomas in biopic "Something the Lord Made". He recently can be seen starring in Jack Black's comedy film "Be Kind Rewind".
