After Katharine McPhee has projected her desire to duet with KT Tunstall, she has to swallow a bitter rejection.

Aspiring musician KT Tunstall has shot down Katharine McPhee's dream of performing a duet with her. McPhee who is an American Idol alumna said that she would love to record with Tunstall, who has become her own idol.

However, Tunstall responded to this rather unfavorable saying that she does not like the reality show. She said, "I'm not a big fan of the reality TV-show-pop-star thing. It chokes the market in terms of young original talent. There's a strong element of karaoke in pop TV shows. I like artists who fire my imagination."

McPhee performed Tunstall's 'Black Horse and the Cherry Tree' on the run to the final on American Idol season 5. Initially, the song was in the bottom half of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart when released in February 2005 but after McPhee sang it on the show, it jumped 56 positions from #79 to #23, before then moving to #20.

McPhee has just parted ways with her label, RCA Records reportedly due to poor sale of her self-titled debut album. She was slated to release her sophomore effort independently.
