Some recording companies claimed that Birdman and several artists under his label did not pay the royalties for their sampled songs.

Lawsuit has been filed against Birdman over the accusal that the rapper used other artists' materials without licensing fees. The suit put him in debt of several record companies that own the right to the original materials.
Birdman, birth name Bryan Williams, co-founded Cash Money Records with his brother Ronald and therefore is partly responsible for the several samplings the artists under his label, including Lil Wayne and Big Tymers, have used.
According to a press release, the named plaintiffs are WB Music Corp., Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp., Cotillion Music Inc., Noontime Tunes. The lawsuit said that Birdman had paid $400,000 in single transaction but failed to present the companies with proper accounting.
The lawsuit also did not specify the name of the copyrighted songs neither did it reveal the amount of money at stake.
