Fall Out Boy's vocalist Patrick Stump has laughed off the rumor regarding their next album's sound, saying that it was only speculation.

Fall Out Boy have made it clear through an interview with MTV News on Tuesday (November 13) that they will not record a folk album. They don't even know yet when the recording is going to be finished.
"There was something that got misconstrued," said vocalist Patrick Stump on the rumor that has been circulating. "(Guitarist) Pete (Wentz) was saying something about folk music, and I was saying something about folk music."
Adding that they will probably go folk on the lyrics, Stump also mentioned that 'rap-rock' is not a possibility either. "I don't know if that's really going to be an influence," he said.
Stump explained that it may be too premature to talk about the album yet. If he had to compare the state of the studio work with being pregnant, then it would be in the "first trimester".
"We need a next breath in before we take the next breath out," he said. "There is a point where you're just going to have a record, like, 'Oh! It's coming!' And we're not there yet. I don't even know how far along it is. First trimester, maybe."
Done with tackling the gossips, Stump revealed that the new record won't be the same as 'Infinity on High' which is still being promoted now. "Maybe it's more ambiguous," Wentz chipped in. "Maybe it could be more relatable to other people."
