After the announcement of Snow Patrol's involvement in Spider-Man 3 soundtracks, rock bands The Flaming Lips, The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Jet are joining the excitement of providing songs for Peter Parker's new venture.

The CD will be out on May 1 via Record Collection, just three days prior the movie's premiere. Snow Patrol's ballad "Signal Fire" has been confirmed to be the first single released.

In the album, The Flaming Lips contributes a rather long-titled song "The Supreme Being Teaches Spider-Man How To Be in Love". Speaking upon the making of this song the band's frontman Wayne Coyne said, "I was looking for some excuse to write a fight song, and then this came up. It has the chiming of the bell when they go into the ring. It's silly, but with the right storyline, it can be a lot of fun."

The Killers and Jet chip in "Move Away" and "Falling Star" respectively while Yeah Yeah Yeahs supplies "Sealings". One song titled "Summer Day" under the artist name Coconut Records is actually the contribution of the movie's actor Jason Schwartzman and Mary Jane's cast Kirsten Dunst.

Despite the rock bands contributing, many said that this record has less hard rock feel compared to the previous ones. It was thought to employ a more 'indie" mood. There is a report that a special edition of the album is in preparation but it is not yet made official.
